Turtles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. canned milk
    1 3/4 c. white corn syrup
    1 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 lb. pecans
Preparation
    Cook sugar, 1 cup milk, corn syrup and butter vigorously. Gradually add the other cup of milk (keep it boiling), stirring constantly.
    Test in cold water until soft balls form.
    Add vanilla and pour into buttered 7 x 11 x 1 1/2-inch pan.
    Cool enough to handle.
    Create turtles by pressing pecan meats into four corners of a teaspoon of the candy (caramels).
    Set on wax paper and let dry.
    Dip into milk chocolate that has been heated in double boiler.
    Lay turtles on wax paper to cool.
    Makes 2 to 3 dozen.
