Scottish Shortbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Beat the butter until it is light and creamy.
    Beat in 1/2 cup sugar.
    Sift the flour with the salt and baking powder.
    Fold into butter mixture.
    Place the dough on a cookie sheet and pat into a rectangle, 1/2-inch thick and approximately 4 x 10-inches in size.
    Mark into 1 x 2-inch bars.
    Sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar and bake in center of 350\u00b0 oven for 15 minutes.
    Cut into bars and store in an airtight container.
