Beef Strips Oriental - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. good top round or sirloin, cut into 1/4 to 3/4-inch strips
    hot vegetable oil
    1 c. water
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 garlic clove, minced
    1 c. diagonal carrot slices
    1 c. diagonal celery slices
    2 c. mushroom halves (1/2 lb.)
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 c. cold water
    1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    Brown meat in oil; drain.
    Add 1 cup water, soy sauce and garlic to drippings.
    Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
    Add carrot, celery and mushrooms.
    Cover and continue cooking 15 to 20 minutes.
    Combine the cornstarch and cold water and blend well. Gradually add cornstarch mixture to hot meat and vegetables. Stir constantly until mixture boils and thickens.
    Remove from heat and stir in cheese.
    Serve over hot, cooked rice.
