Pearl Barnes' And The Late Vera Mckinney'S Oatmeal Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1/8 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. soda
1 1/2 c. regular flour

Preparation

Pour boiling water over oatmeal; let cool.
Cream together good sugar, brown sugar, shortening and salt.
Add eggs.
Mix together cinnamon, soda and flour; blend and then add oatmeal mixture.
Beat so it's incorporated.
Pour into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan or two 8-inch pans.
