Homemade White Bread - cooking recipe

3 pkg. active dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. melted shortening
5 c. water
4 tsp. salt
16 to 18 c. flour
Preparation

Sprinkle yeast over warm (110\u00b0) water.
Combine sugar, salt, shortening and water in 5-quart bowl.
Stir in 8 cups flour; add yeast and enough remaining flour to make a stiff dough.
Knead on a lightly floured surface until smooth and satiny (5 to 8 minutes).
