Spoon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. milk
    1 c. corn meal
    1 1/4 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. double-acting baking powder
    2 eggs, separated
Preparation
    Scald milk in top of double boiler.
    Stir in cornmeal gradually and cook until thickened, stirring occasionally.
    Beat egg whites and set aside.
    To corn meal mixture, add butter, salt, sugar and baking powder.
    Mix well.
    Then, in large mixing bowl, add hot mixture slowly to beaten egg yolks, stirring constantly. Fold in egg white.
    Pour into greased 2-quart casserole.
    Bake in hot, preheated 425\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes or until done.
    Serve at once with butter.
    Makes 8 servings.
