Raisin Ice Water Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 qt. cucumbers
    1/4 c. salt
    2 to 3 trays ice cubes
    3/4 c. raisins
    2 1/2 c. vinegar
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. celery seed
    2 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    onion rings if desired
    red peppers if desired
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers as for bread and butter pickles.
    Sprinkle salt over top.
    Add ice cubes to cover.
    Let stand 3 hours (add onion and red pepper, if desired).
    Drain well.
    Put raisins in enough water to barely cover.
    Add all other ingredients.
    Pour over cucumbers and bring to a boil.
    When green color goes, pack in jars and seal.
    Be sure some raisins get in each jar.
