Date And Nut Loaf - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped dates
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. shortening
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sprinkle soda over dates; pour boiling water over both. Combine sugar, salt, shortening and egg.
Add date mixture, nuts and flour sifted with baking powder.
Blend together.
Turn into a greased, floured loaf pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
