Applettes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. grated apples
    2 c. sugar
    2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
    2 Tbsp. water
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    3 drops almond flavor
    confectioners sugar
Preparation
    Dissolve gelatin in water.
    Combine with apples and sugar in saucepan.
    Bring to boil and simmer 30 minutes.
    Add walnuts and flavorings.
    Let cool to lukewarm.
    Pour into an 8 x 3-inch loaf pan.
    Cool.
    Cut into squares and roll in powdered sugar. Jonathan apples have the best flavor for this candy.
