Mom'S Apple Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    pastry*
    6 or 7 tart apples, pared, cored and thinly sliced (6 c.)
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice (optional)
    3/4 to 1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1/2 to 1 tsp. cinnamon
    dash of each: nutmeg and salt
    2 Tbsp. butter
