Banana Chiffon - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. oil
    3/4 c. cold water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 mashed ripe bananas
    7 unbeaten egg yolks
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    5 egg whites
Preparation
    Beat 5 egg whites stiff with cream of tartar (reserve 2 egg whites for frosting).
    Mix first 4 ingredients.
    Make a well and add remaining 5 ingredients; mix by hand.
    Fold yellow mixture into egg whites.
    Add 1 cup chopped nuts (optional).
    Bake in angel food tube pan at 350\u00b0 for 55 minutes.
    Turn pan upside down to cool.
