Cheddar Mushroom Puff - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 slices white bread
    2 Tbsp. butter, softened
    8 oz. sliced Cheddar
    1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained
    1 c. milk
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Butter one side of each slice of bread; cut into thirds.
    Place half of bread in bottom of well-buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole.
    Cover with half of cheese slices and half of mushrooms.
    Repeat cheese and mushroom layers. Top with bread.
    Combine milk, eggs and seasonings.
    Pour mixture into casserole.
    Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until puffy and knife inserted in center comes out clean.
    Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
