Hopping John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. black-eyed peas
    2 tsp. salt
    1 c. rice
    1/4 lb. cut up pork (bacon, side meat or hog jowl)
Preparation
    Wash and cook peas until they are tender, about 1 hour.
    Add the meat and salt; cook for 1 hour.
    Add rice and cook for 30 minutes.
