Gipshoim Apple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. tart apples, sliced
    3 c. breadcrumbs
    3/4 c. butter
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 c. sugar
    pinch of salt
    grated rind of 1/2 lemon
Preparation
    Peel and cut apples into thin slices.
    In a well-buttered baking dish, arrange a layer of apple sections.
    Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar, cinnamon and crumbs.
    Add a few dots of butter to each layer.
    Fill dish with alternated layers of apples and crumbs, with crumbs on top.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven until apples are tender, about 45 minutes.
    Cool.
    Serve with Vanilla Sauce, whipped cream or ice cream.
    Makes 8 portions.
