Gold Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    1 1/4 c. milk
    5 egg yolks
    1 tsp. vanilla or lemon flavoring
Preparation
    Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into large mixing bowl.
    Add shortening and 3/4 cup of milk.
    Beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
    Add egg yolks, flavoring and remaining milk.
    Beat 2 minutes.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes for layers and 35 to 40 minutes in oblong pan until surface springs back when gently touched.
