Chocolate Date Torte - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. chopped dates
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 tsp. soda
2 eggs, well beaten
1 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. flour plus 2 Tbsp.
3/4 c. spry or oleo
pinch of salt
3/4 tsp. soda
1/2 pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 c. granulated sugar

Preparation

Mix the first 3 ingredients and let cool.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, date mixture, flour and soda.
Mix and pour into cake pan.
Sprinkle chocolate chips, nuts and then sugar on top and bake in not too hot an oven.
