Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
8 oz. dates, chopped
1 1/2 c. crisp rice cereal
1 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. confectioners sugar
Preparation

Melt butter and sugar in heavy saucepan over low heat.
Add dates.
Cook until thick, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat. Stir in cereal, pecans and vanilla.
Cool slightly.
Divide into 2 portions.
Shape each into a log.
Roll in confectioners sugar; wrap in waxed paper.
Chill for several hours.
Slice into 1-inch pieces.
