Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. squash, sliced
    4 green peppers
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. onion
    3 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. pickling spice
Preparation
    Slice squash and soak in ice water 1 hour.
    Mix sugar, vinegar, pepper, onion and spice and put in a pot and bring to a boil.
    Drain squash and add to mixture and bring to a hard boil. Place in jars.
    Makes 8 pints.
