Bavarian Meatballs And Pears - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (29 oz.) can pear halves
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1/4 c. fine bread crumbs
    1/3 c. minced onion
    3 Tbsp. minced parsley
    1 egg
    1/4 c. milk
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. ground allspice
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1/4 c. cider vinegar
    1 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1 tsp. pickling spice
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    1/3 c. dried apricots (optional)
Preparation
    Drain pears, reserving syrup.
    Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, parsley, egg, milk, salt, pepper and allspice.
    Mix well and shape into 1 1/2-inch balls.
    Brown meat balls slowly in oil.
    Add reserved pear syrup, vinegar, brown sugar, pickling spice, cloves and dried apricots (if you have them).
    Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
    Add pear halves and simmer 15 minutes longer. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
