Company Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 yeast cakes
    1 pt. lukewarm milk
    2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. melted shortening
    4 eggs, well beaten
    about 8 c. flour, sifted before measuring
Preparation
    Mix yeast with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/4 cup warm milk; let stand 5 minutes.
    Dissolve salt and rest of sugar in milk.
    Add yeast mixture, then add 4 cups flour; beat well.
    Add beaten eggs and shortening; beat 3 minutes.
    Add remaining flour and knead until smooth (do not make dough too stiff).
    Let rise twice.
