Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    sliced cucumbers
    3 large onions
    4 c. sugar
    4 c. vinegar
    1/2 c. salt (Morton pickling)
    1 1/4 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/4 tsp. mustard seed
    1 1/4 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers to fill the gallon jars.
    (Do not peel cucumbers!)
    Slice onions.
    Put a layer of onions and then a layer of cucumbers and press down until jar is full.
    Pack down very firmly.
    Mix remaining ingredients and pour over contents of jar. Will keep up to 9 months in refrigerator.
