Ingredients

1 c. shortening (butter)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour (all-purpose)
1 tsp. baking powder
a pinch of salt (none if butter is used)
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
(I use electric mixer.) Add eggs one at a time and beat.
Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture.
Chill in refrigerator; divide into thirds.
Roll dough thin and cut with cookie cutter.
Be sure not to work in much flour as cookie dough is rolled out.
Place cut out cookies on cookie sheet and bake about ten minutes or until they are as brown as you want them.
