Ingredients

1 lb (4 sticks) butter, soft
2 eggs
2 Tbsp molasses
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 c water
1 1/2 c granulated sugar
1 1/2 c packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
5 c all-purpose flour
1 1/2 - 12 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream butter, eggs, molasses, vanilla and water in medium size bowl.
In a large bowl, sift together the sugars, baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour. Combine the moist mixture and the dry mixture.
Add the chips. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet, placing them 1 inch apart.
Bake for 8 minutes or until brown around the edges.
Do not exceed cooking time.
Sugar continues to bake cookies.
Makes 4 dozen.
