Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    30 medium-sized cucumbers (1 gal. sliced)
    8 medium onions
    2 large red or green peppers
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    5 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. whole cloves
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers in thin slices.
    (Do not pare.)
    Slice onions in thin rings.
    Cut peppers in fine strips.
    Dissolve salt in ice water and pour over sugar and spices and bring to boil.
    Add drained vegetables and heat to boiling point.
    (Do not boil.) Pack into sterilized jars and seal.
