Angel Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. (1 Tbsp.) active dry yeast
    2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
    6 c. all-purpose flour (not self-rising)
    1 tsp. baking soda
    3 tsp. baking powder
    4 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. vegetable shortening
    2 c. buttermilk
    1 egg
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    Dissolve yeast in water.
    Sift flour into bowl with other dry ingredients.
    Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse corn meal.
    Lightly beat egg and add with buttermilk to flour mixture.
    Stir until all flour is dampened, then turn out onto lightly floured board or countertop.
    Knead 5 to 10 turns (the less kneading the better).
    Roll out to desired thickness (3/4-inch is good) and cut into biscuits with floured cutter.
    Place in ungreased baking pans or cookie sheet and bake at 400\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
    Serve hot.
