Raisin Crisscross Cookies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. soft shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 Tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. lemon extract (or vanilla if preferred)
1 1/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. coarsely chopped raisins
Preparation

Mix together shortening, sugar and egg until thoroughly blended.
Stir in milk and lemon extract.
Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
Thoroughly mix together the wet and dry ingredients until they are well blended.
Stir in raisins.
Roll into balls about the size of a small walnut.
Place balls about 3 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
Flatten each with a fork dipped in flour making a crisscross pattern. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes 3 dozen.
