Ingredients

2 1/2 c. sifted flour
2/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. soft butter
1 unbeaten egg
2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients in large bowl.
In another bowl, blend butter, egg and sugar.
Mix butter mixture with dry ingredients and form dough.
Divide into 4 parts and shape each part into a roll 13 inches long, 3/4-inch thick on floured surface.
Place on ungreased sheet 4 inches apart, 2 inches from edges.
Make a depression 1/4 to 1/3-inch deep down center of log with knife handle.
Fill depression with jam and top with nuts.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
Cut diagonally.
