Hawaiian Tsukemono - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. white Hawaiian salt
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. Heinz vinegar
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    2 tsp. ajinomoto (optional)
    daikon (Japanese white radish)
Preparation
    Wash
    and
    slice daikon and pack it in a gallon jar, at least 3/4
    full.\tMix salt, sugar, vinegar and turmeric well, and
    pour the
    mixture
    over\tthe
    daikon.
    Let it sit for 12 hours.\tMix well
    again
    and let it sit for another 12 hours. If the
    seal
    if tight, the jar may be turned upside down for the
    second
    12 hours.
    Pack
    in
    smaller
    jars
    and store in refrigerator.
