2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 eggs
Preparation

Mix well and pour into 2 round greased and floured cake pans; sprinkle with the reserved 1/2 cup of mixture for topping.
Bake in preheated oven at 375\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes until browned.
