German Red Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 lb. red cabbage, shredded
2 very large tart apples, cored and quartered
1/2 c. apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. lard or margarine
3 whole bay leaves
1/4 tsp. black peppercorns
1/4 tsp. whole cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
-
Simmer vinegar, water, lard and spices for about 10 minutes. Add cabbage and apples.
Cover.
Cook over low heat for about one hour.
Serve.
Leftovers can be frozen.
