Hawaiian Pineapple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. sifted Softasilk flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    2/3 c. milk
    1 tsp. flavoring
    another 1/3 c. milk (after beating)
    4 egg whites (1/2 to 2/3 c.)
Preparation
    Sift together into bowl flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add shortening, 2/3 cup milk and flavoring.
    Beat 2 minutes.
    Add another 1/3 cup milk and the egg whites.
    Beat 2 more minutes. Pour into prepared pans.
    Bake until cake tests done.
    Cool.
    Put cooled layers together with pineapple filling, spreading about 1/2 cup over center of top layer.
    Frost sides and a 1 1/2-inch border on top with a fluffy white icing.
    Time:
    Layers 30 to 35 minutes, oblong 35 to 40 minutes, both at 350\u00b0.
