Navettes Sucres(Sugar Shuttles) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. butter, softened
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    2 egg yolks
    2 egg whites
Preparation
    Sift flour, sugar and salt into a bowl.
    Add butter, egg yolks and vanilla extract; knead until dough is well-blended.
    Chill for 2 hours, then divide the dough into portions the size of a small walnut.
    Roll each piece of dough with the palm of your hand on a lightly floured board to give it the shape of a sewing machine shuttle.
    Dip each in the egg whites and roll in sugar.
    Bake on a lightly buttered baking sheet in a moderate oven (350\u00b0) for about 8 minutes or until the cookies are lightly brown.
