Ripe Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 large ripe cukes
    1/2 c. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. mixed whole spices
    3 1/2 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Pare and slice cukes lengthwise; remove seeds.
    Sprinkle with 1/2 cup salt.
    Let stand 24 hours.
    Place the salted cukes in a colander or on a thin cloth tied over the top of a pan; drain 1 hour.
    Boil sugar, spices and vinegar 5 minutes; add cukes. Simmer 20 to 30 minutes.
    Pack in jars and seal immediately.
