Florida Orange Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    3 c. flour
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 1/2 c. dates or raisins
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar well.
    Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
    Add soda and buttermilk.
    Sift flour 3 times.
    Add alternately flour and milk, beating after each addition.
    Add 1 teaspoon orange rind.
    Dust nuts and dates with flour.
    Stir in cake mixture.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan. When cool mix 1 cup sugar and 1 1/2 cups orange juice.
    Pour over cake a little at a time.
