Grandmother'S Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 medium cucumbers
    8 c. sugar
    5 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. pickling spice
    4 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Cover whole cucumbers with boiling water.
    Allow to stand until the next morning.
    Drain.
    Repeat this for the next three mornings.
    On the fifth day, drain and slice into 1/2 inch pieces. Mix sugar, salt, pickling spices and vinegar.
    Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers.
    Let this stand for 2 days.
    On the third day, put cucumber slices in canning jars and bring the syrup to a boil.
    Pour syrup over cucumbers and seal.
