Grandma'S Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    salt and water
    3 qt. small cucumbers
    1 qt. vinegar
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1/4 tsp. alum
    1/4 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers; cut into 1/4-inch slices.
    Soak overnight in a brine, to cover, made of 1 tablespoon salt and 1 quart water.
    Mix the remaining ingredients with the vinegar and bring to boiling point.
    Drain brine from cukes.
    Pack in jars with the boiling hot liquid and seal.
