Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raw lentils
    10 c. water
    4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1/2 tsp. margarine
    2 large onions, sliced
    2 large carrots, sliced
    1/3 c. parsley
    1 qt. canned tomatoes
Preparation
    Wash lentils and put in large kettle with water and spices. Bring to boil.
    Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
    Saute sliced onions and carrots in 1/2 cup olive oil.
    Add parsley, tomatoes and sauteed onions and carrots to soup.
    Simmer 1 to 2 hours (several is okay).
    Can be served with grated cheese.
    Delicious meal with garlic bread and tossed green salad.
