Best Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. light corn syrup
2 c. salted peanuts
Preparation

In a heavy saucepan, stir together the sugar, corn syrup and water.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved and mixture comes to a boil.
Cook, without stirring, until temperature reaches 280\u00b0 on candy thermometer or until small amount dropped into cold water separates into a thread that is hard, but not brittle.
Stir in peanuts so mixture continues to boil.
Cook, stirring often, until temperature reaches 300\u00b0 or until dropped into cold water separates into threads that are hard and brittle.
Remove from heat.
Pour into buttered pan without spreading.
When cool, bread into pieces.
Makes 2 1/2 pounds.
