Hope Pies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (No. 2 1/2) can sliced peaches
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. grated orange rind
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. margarine or shortening
    1 egg
    1/3 c. peach syrup
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    brown sugar cinnamon
Preparation
    Drain peaches and save 1/3 cup syrup.
    Place peaches in buttered baking dish.
    Sprinkle with 4 tablespoons sugar and orange rind.
    Heat in oven while preparing batter.
    Sift flour once; measure.
    Add salt and baking powder and sift again.
    Work in margarine.
    Add beaten egg and peach syrup.
