Best Ever Gingersnaps - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/4 c. molasses
    1 egg, beaten
    extra sugar
Preparation
    Combine 1 cup sugar, flour, salt, soda and spices. Stir lightly. Cut in shortening to resemble coarse crumbs. Stir in molasses and egg. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll them in the extra sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes. Remove from baking sheet immediately. Cookies will firm as they cool. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
