Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 oz. red food coloring
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 tsp. salt
    2 eggs
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Make a paste of coloring and cocoa; add to first mixture.
    Add salt.
    Blend in flour and buttermilk alternately.
    Add vanilla.
    Dissolve soda in vinegar and fold in gently.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes.
    Bake in two layer pans.
    When cool, split layers to make 4 layers; spread filling between layers.
