Mom'S Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. cucumbers
    14 small onions
    4 large green peppers
    3/4 c. salt
    10 c. sugar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1/4 c. mustard seed
    2 1/2 qt. vinegar
Preparation
    Slice vegetables and sprinkle salt over all.
    Let stand for 3 hours; drain.
    Heat sugar, turmeric, ground cloves, mustard seed and vinegar thoroughly (do not boil).
    Add to vegetables.
    Pack in jars and seal.
    These are best if kept in jars 3 weeks before opening.
