Abbott'S Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. Burgundy wine
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    2 bay leaves
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ground pepper
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    3 lb. stewing beef
    1/4 c. olive oil
    2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans beef broth
    6 sliced carrots
    12 small onions
    6 medium potatoes, halved
Preparation
    Combine first 6 ingredients.
    Pour over beef in shallow dish. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
    Drain meat, saving marinade. Discard bay leaves.
    Brown meat in oil.
    Add broth and remaining marinade, bring to a boil.
    Cover.
    Reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
    Add carrots, onions and potatoes.
    Cover and cook for 30 minutes more.
