Homemade Mincemeat - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. chopped cooked beef
    1 c. chopped suet
    2 c. seedless raisins
    2 c. currants
    2 c. candied citron
    2 qt. chopped, peeled apples
    1 qt. cider or apple juice
    4 lemons (juice and rind)
    4 c. brown sugar
    4 tsp. salt
    4 tsp. cinnamon
    4 tsp. allspice, ground
    4 Tbsp. brandy
Preparation
    Put all ingredients except brandy in a large saucepan.
    Cook slowly 1 1/2 hours, stirring frequently.
    Stir in brandy and pack into 4 hot, sterile quart jars.
    Seal.
    A quart makes 1 1/2 nine-inch pies.
