Congo Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 sticks butter or 2/3 c. shortening
    1 box brown sugar
    2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (6 oz.) butterscotch or chocolate chips
Preparation
    Melt margarine.
    Stir in sugar.
    Cool.
    Add eggs, one at a time.
    Beat thoroughly (hand beat).
    Stir in flour.
    Add vanilla and stir in chips and nuts.
    Pour in greased oblong pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
