Ingredients

1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture.
Add vanilla.
Drop one teaspoon onto greased baking sheet (less if you want smaller cookies).
Press down with a glass, dipped in ice water.
Bake at 400\u00b0 until brown for 4 to 5 minutes.
