Chalupas - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef or turkey
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. cumin
salt and pepper to taste
1 can chili beans
3 Tbsp. shortening
12 corn tortillas
shredded lettuce
3/4 lb. Cheddar cheese
3 fresh tomatoes, diced
bottled taco sauce
Preparation

Heat lightly greased skillet.
Add ground beef or turkey and onion.
Cook until meat is browned.
Drain off grease.
Add seasonings and mix thoroughly.
Blend in beans and their liquid. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes.
Heat shortening in a skillet.
Fry tortillas for 1 minute on each side.
Drain on absorbent paper.
You may wrap tortillas in foil and heat in oven until warm.
