German Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    4 egg yolks
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 pkg. German chocolate, unsweetened
    4 egg whites
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks.
    Mix separately the flour, soda and salt.
    Then add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
    Add melted chocolate, then fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in three 9-inch pans, about 35 minutes at 350\u00b0. Cool before icing.
