Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation

Blend shortening and sugars.
Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Add dry ingredients and vanilla.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
Nuts can be omitted and coconut added.
