Old Fashioned Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. flour*
    1 tsp. salt
    4 carrots, cut in 1-inch slices
    1 green pepper, cut in strips
    2 lb. beef stew meat, cut in 1-inch pieces
    1 medium turnip, cut in 1-inch cubes
    1 c. (1-inch) celery pieces
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 c. diced onion
    3 pared medium potatoes, cut in 1-inch cubes
    1 bay leaf
    6 c. hot water
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 beef bouillon cubes
    1 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix flour, salt and pepper.
    Coat meat with flour mixture.
